All examples listed above have a corner/edge pair already formed as a starting point. This is because you should make use of existing corner/edge pairs whenever possible, instead of building them from scratch. If you have no existing corner/edge pairs, just do some other forward step, like orient the edges. After that, corner/edge pairs are sometimes automatically created without any effort. In other cases, you might instead spot a centre/edge pair already formed and you should be able to work with that. You should only build from scratch if there are no opportunities to work with. Don't worry about wasting time here, corner/edge pairs and centre/edge pairs are very easy to spot, and so are edge orientations.
